Ceol Aneas 2013 Instrument Tutors

    Flute

    Alan Doherty - Ireland

    Alan, the founding tutor of Ceol Aneas returns to Nelson. He is one of the most identifiable and respected flute-players in Irish music. His freewheeling, soaring style of flute-playing was a major part of the band Gráda’s sound, of which he co founded.

    Tola Custy - Ireland

    Tóla is one of the most famous performers, composers and recording artists that Irish music has to offer. He has had the opportunity to share stages with people such as Heidi Talbot, Donogh Hennessy, the group Gráda, Arty McGlynn, Blazing Bows and Edi Reader.

    Gerry Paul - Ireland

    Gerry is a very highly regarded guitar player with Irish traditional/americana music group Gráda. He has performed internationally at festivals and concerts accompanying some of Ireland's greatest musicians including Gerry “Banjo” O'Connor, Sharon Shannon, Tola Custy, Alan Kelly, Padraic Rynne, Pauline Scanlon, Yvonne Kane.

    Seamus Breathnach - Ireland

    Seamus hails from the village of Corr Na Mona in the North West of the Connemara Gaeltacht, in County Galway, Ireland. The box players of this region were the biggest influence of his youth, especially his grandfather Antaine "Mhicil" Breathnach. He is currently based in Melbourne.

    Jody Moran - UK

    Based predominantly in northern England in his youth, he performed at international level with the Leeds Ceili Band. He was a regular tutor at music festivals including Willie Clancy Summer School and Tocane (France). Jody is a previous All Ireland winner and adjudicator with a musical heritage in the Sligo style and a vast repertoire of tunes.

    Adam Guyton - New Zealand

    Adam started playing whistle at age 10, inspired at an early age by the playing of the Cheiftains and Mary Bergin. While at college he was the first to be recognised by NECA for his technique on the whistle. He spent some years performing alongside Irish guitarist Dave O'Connor and recently has been well-regarded contributor to the Dunedin traditional music scene.
