Special Workshops

11 April, 2022 By Chih Tham

This year, we’re offering two special one-off workshops: set dancing and bouzouki. They’re held during the afternoon of Queen’s Weekend, and the registration fee is $30.

How to sign up for them?

If you’re registering for the whole weekend, you can add them on as part of your registration (e.g. just like adding on an extra concert or ceili ticket).

If you’re not registering for the whole weekend, and would like to attend either the set dancing or bouzouki workshop (or both),  sign up for the special workshops here.

Covid Traffic Light Settings

31 March, 2022 By Chih Tham

Ceol Aneas is following advice from NZ Ministry of Health to plan and run this event.

New Zealand uses a traffic light system to manage COVID risk. We will need to be at level orange or green for Ceol Aneas to go ahead.

Under Orange, there are no limits to indoor or outdoor crowd sizes. Face masks and vaccine passes are not required. (A session venue or business may continue to request passes. This would be beyond the control of Ceol Aneas.)

If you have cold, flu or COVID-19 symptoms, we do ask you to help keep our community safe. If symptoms develop during the weekend of Ceol Aneas, please stay in your accommodation and call Healthline for advice. You may be eligible for a part or full refund of your registration fee if you are required to self-isolate during Ceol Aneas.”

2022 Registrations are open!

27 March, 2022 By Chih Tham

Wahoo! Yes, we are planning to go ahead, and can now announce the tutor line-up. Registration is now open for early bird discounts – register now, pay later!

Covid caveat
We are still awaiting a change in level from Red to Orange. If we drop to Orange, we are confident that all Ceol Aneas classes and events can operate, but are checking with the pubs in relation to sessions, and working through the safety measures needed for each event and venue. It is likely (for example) that masks may still be needed.

If we stay in Red, or return to Red later, the committee will review the decision to go ahead, as we will not be able to offer some events, such as the céilí and concert, and will need to consider the effects on singing, flute, and whistle classes. We will therefore not take registration fees until 16th May, to avoid the complication of refunds. If a full programme is not possible, we will consider various options, such as cancelling or running a partial programme.

It is important to register in advance to ensure your place in Ceol Aneas, as numbers are likely to be capped on some classes and events. Walk-in registrations will therefore not be available this year.

Registration and payment
Register by 11th April to get the early bird price of $150 ($75 for students).
Schedule your payment through your bank, or make a note to pay on 16th May.
If you do not register by 11th April, or do not pay by 23rd May, the cost is $180 ($90 for students).

Register here: https://www.irishmusic.org.nz/ceol-aneas-irish-music-festival/register-for-classes/

Flights and accommodation
Book your flight if needed, remembering to pay extra in case you need to cancel.
If booking accommodation at the YHA, email or call them, as they only take bookings for this weekend for musicians and our friends, to ensure we are all allocated together.
